Lake Eyasi Adventure Tour - 8 days

Tanzania Camping SafariThis is a camping safari with a cultural interest.
(Incl. the last bushmen of East Africa Hadzabe, Tindiga and Mang'ati)

This safari begins and ends in Arusha.
4x4 Land Cruiser and Land Rover are used for this safari. Safari in brief:

Day 1: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast commence safari and drive towards the north to Tarangire. Tarangire National Park is famous for its dense wildlife population, which is most spectacular between June and September, the dry period. During this time thousands of animals- wildebeest, buffalo, and Oryx migrate from the dry Maasai steeple to the Tarangire River looking for water. Lion, leopard and other predators follow the herds. Tarangire is home to over 500 varieties of birds. Have lunch and take a late afternoon game viewing drive returning for dinner and overnight at Holiday Fig Resort Campsite.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
Descend into the crater and spend the full day. One of the World’s largest Calderas, 20 km wide, Ngorongoro Crater is also one of the best Wildlife viewing areas where Black Rhinos can be seen in Tanzania. The crater at 2.286 m above sea level is the largest unbroken Calderas in the world. Surrounded by very steep walls, rising 610 m from the crate floor, it covers 260 km2 and is home to over 30.000 animals, almost half of them being zebra and wildebeest. Ngorongoro is listed as a World Heritage site. Returning for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Campsite.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park
At 06h30 start to take a game drive to Lobo in the remote Northern Serengeti. The Lobo area is one of the natural pathways for the yearly migration of the wildebeests. This area has one of the highest concentrations of lion in Africa. Overnight is spent at Lobo Campsite.
(Recommended to stay at Lobo Wildlife Lodge at this location.)

Day 4: Serengeti National Park
The morning is spent game viewing in the northern Serengeti. During the afternoon move to the Seronera, the central Serengeti, with game viewing en-route, overnight at Seronera Campsite. Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world with columns of wildebeest, head to tail, trudging along their traditional migration routes.

This is an ideal place to take a Balloon Safari over the Serengeti.
(Balloon safaris and breakfasts in the bush can be organised by prior arrangements.)

Day 5: Lake Eyasi
Leaving the Serengeti at 06h30 and drive to Lake Eyasi. The pastures and forests along the shoreline of the lake are home to a wide variety of wildlife including leopard, hippo, and a variety of monkey, various birds, greater and lesser flamingos, storks and pelicans.
Overnight at Eyasi camp site.
(An excursion to Olduvai Gorge is an optional extra on this day.)

Day 6: Cultural Visit
Visit the native people namely the Bushmen locally known as Hadzabe or Tindiga, The Hadzabe people live around Lake Eyasi area and are an original hunter-gatherer population of Africa. Then the Taturu sometimes known as Mang'ati who still live in their traditional way. Leaves at midday and drive to Lake Manyara.
Overnight at Mto wa Mbu Campsite.

Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park
After an early breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park and spend the day game viewing and spot the tree climbing lions that inhabit this area. This beautiful park is at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and comprises of forest, woodland, grasslands, and swamps. The large variety of mammals, reptiles and birds in the Park and the different types of vegetation, all within a small area make Lake Manyara a diverse and particularly memorable place to visit. Return to Arusha.

Day 8: Mount Kilimanjaro
We recommend the following extensions to compliment your safari:
Transfer to Marangu to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, or fly to the exotic 'spice island' Zanzibar to relax on white sands and experience some of the worlds finest diving.
