Samburu National Reserve is one of the lesser-known national parks, but is nevertheless teeming with life. Situated alongside the Ewaso Nyiro River, there is plenty to attract wildlife from the surrounding savannah plains. The reserves within the ecological zone V – which is classified as arid and semi arid with a moisture index of 42 to 57, which indicates that evapo-transpiration is greater than available moisture.

Mount Kenya is an imposing extinct volcano dominating the landscape of the Kenyan Highlands. The mountain has two main peaks – Batian (5,200 metres) and Nelion (5,188 metres). The mountains slopes are cloaked in forest, bamboo, scrub and moorland giving way on the high central peaks to rock, ice and snow.

Complete Wilderness
Meru is a savanna National Park, 35 km east of Maua town in the North Eastern lowlands below the Nyambeni Hills. Meru National Park is a former home of Joy and George Adamson and Elsa the Lioness. The park is part of a complex of protected areas along the Tana river that includes the adjacent Bisanadi and Mwingi National Park Reserves, Kora National Park and Rahole National Reserve.
