Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is perched on the eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, in the volcanic highlands of Tanzania, covering an area of 240 sq kilometers. The lodge is 170 km from Arusha town, approximately 4 hours drive and 40 minutes by air, with another 45 minutes transfer from the airstrip to the lodge. The Ngorongoro Crater is a world heritage site, often reffered to as the eighth wonder of the world. Ngorongoro Sopa offers the most magnificent views over the crater floor, to vast herds of buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, the rare and endangered black rhino, elephant, cheetah, leopard, lion and herds of Gazelle.
Accommodation Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge which was opened in the early 1990’s offers 91 double bedrooms that are very spacious. Each rooms has a glass fronted verandah, where you may enjoy a private view of the Crater. The Lodge has 6 single rooms, all of which have queen sized beds and glass fronted sliding doors. Each suite is fully carpeted and heated by oil fired central heating radiators in the deep sprung mattresses to ensure a comfortable nights rest. The fully tiled bathrooms are equipped to a high standard with bath, shower, WC, bidet, wash hand basin, hair dryer and shaver socket. A small private lounge with writing desk provides extra privacy to each suite and mini bars are available on request. Accommodation At Ngorongoro Sopa, meals are served in the main restaurant and are prepared in international and local flavors by professionally trained chefs. After meals, guests can take time to relax in the lodge gardens overlooking the crater or in the main lounge with cup of tea or coffee. The restaurant is in the shape of a roundvale, has a high roof and large glass windows to view the crater. From the inside the ceiling resembles the inside of an umberella.
