Description & Location
On the Selous banks of the Rufiji River, directly in front of the sunset at a point where the ample and tranquil river is animated by many and different species of animals, lies the Rufiji River Camp.
The location is the exact point where one would choose to camouflage to watch the hippo's bath, the crocodile's siestas, the precious colors of hundreds of birds or to simply gaze on the high to finally discover just how immense the sky really is. Selous Game Reserve is Africa’s largest 55,000 sq km covering of unspoilt Tanzania wilderness, and contains almost three quarters of a million wildlife including the world’s largest elephant population.
All of the Rufiji River Camp's structures, kitchen included are constantly and carefully maintained attaining the highest level of comfort without sacrificing the emotion of total immersion in a completely natural environment. Accommodation Rufiji River Camp has 20 tents, each facing the west, are equipped with comfortable beds and mattresses, sheets, blankets and mosquito netting, and all the comforts of a luxury safari camp. Each tent contains a private walled bath, and is protected by Makuti roof, a roof local straw, creating the perfect veranda for reading, writing or just resting in the shade. Electricity is generated by a solar panel system for warming water for bathing, tent illumination, the running of water pumps and kitchen equipment and for changing the batteries of the guests video cameras. Dining & Cuisine A structure in the central part of the camp hosts a restaurant, bar and a library, all with a view of the river and the sunset. The central restaurant provides excellent exotic and international cuisine. A well stocked bar gives guests a wide choice of beverages right in the wilderness.
