Tarangire Safari Lodge is perched on top of a high bluff with a breathtaking panorama; it is in the best location in Tarangire National Park giving guests one of the best views in Africa. Right below the lodge is Tarangire River, a favorite watering place, which attracts impressive numbers and variety of game. The scene unfolds before you while lounging on the outdoor patio, allowing you to appreciate Tarangire’s diverse wildlife without ever leaving the lodge.

Tarangire Safari Lodge has two different types of accommodations: the luxury twin tents which add up to 35 in total combine authentic safari atmosphere of ‘nights under the canvas’, with more modern comforts of electric light and en suite bathrooms with hot water. Each is spacious and has a small verandah, 2 cozy single beds and a writing table and chair. The honeymoon suite is situated near a secluded overlook of the river and is furnished with a large double bed made of old dhow wood. The lodge also offers bungalows that provide the space and convenience of solid walls yet blend into their surroundings by using local stone and echoing the traditional round Maasai huts.

At the heart of Tarangire Safari Lodge are the impressively high thatched roofs of the lounge and dining room. The open-sided design allows an uninterrupted view of the landscape and wildlife below, and captures the cooling breeze while you dine on our delicious home cooked safari cuisine. All meals are served under the vaulted ceiling of the open-aired dining room; the cuisine is international, using fresh local ingredients and a hint of African spices. Children can be catered for with early mealtimes, and we are happy to accommodate special dietary requirements.

Your day can begin at sunrise with tea or coffee delivered to your room. Our extensive breakfast buffet offers a variety of fresh fruit, homemade breads and pastries, cereals, yoghurt and porridge, served alongside freshly brewed Tanzanian coffee or tea. Cooked English-style breakfasts can be ordered to energize your day’s game viewing. Lunches are typically served buffet style, with a varying selection of soups, salads, and hot and cold dishes…and an assortment of delicious deserts. Dinner is a 3-course meal served at your table. There is always plenty to eat and enough variety to ensure there is something to suit all tastes.

Activities here include game viewing drives, sundowners, bush dinners, cultural visits to a local Maasai village amongst others. Tarangire Safari Lodge is approximately 2 hours drive 120 kilometers / 75 miles from Arusha on a good tarmac road. If you wish to arrive by air, a light aircraft can be chartered to fly into the Park.

Tarangire Safari Lodge is located at a mid way spot while transiting into Tanzania's northern circuit; it is a manageable point logistically from all traffic coming from Arusha and even as far as Kenya through the Namanga border. This makes it a most ideal day one of most safaris due to it's close vicinity from key safari entry points into Tanzania.
